Kenzie's Funky Flower Cake

For Kenzie's 10th B-day she wanted a slightly more grownup girly cake. Got the basic idea from some other blogs. Bottom layer is my new favorite which would be perfect wedding cake-white chocolate w/ raspberry, orange marmalade filling, cream cheese white choc icing, 2nd layer brownie w/ choc ganache, and 3rd and 4th layers pistachio. All covered in homemade fondant of course and decorated w/ gumpaste gerber daisies. First time I've trimmed w/ fabric ribbons, but it was easy and worked great-almost stuck to the cake w/out icing. Painted also w/ shimmer powder.

Olympic Swimmers

Kenzie with Olympians Eric Shanteau and Carolyn Burckle(who's also from Kentucky) at the University of Louisville for the Mutual of Omaha Breakout Swim Clinic. She got to swim with these guys which was really cool. They actually seemed like super nice people. Eric found out he had testicular cancer I think right before the Olympic trials and after he made the team, waited on his treatment until after he swam the Olympics-don't blame him-he did with Dr.'s counsel. It was a fun day.

Kenzie's Easter Cupcakes

Easter cupcakes for Kenzie to take to school. Brownie and chocolate chip cookie w/ fudge cream cheese icing and white chocolate with white chocolate cream cheese icing topped with chocolate easter eggs and cute little bows to match(the most difficult part of making these was the little bows).

Happy Birthday Linda

This was for my MIL's 61th birthday. White chocolate cake with white chocolate cream cheese icing and raspberry glaze-pretty good if I do say so myself.

MICHIGAN CAKE

ALTHOUGH I DO BLEED BLUE, IT'S USUALLY A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT HUE THAN THIS. I WAS ACTUALLY ALMOST AFRAID TO CARRY A MICHIGAN CAKE THRU KENTUCKY. THIS WAS FOR A GOOD FRIEND WHO LEAVING WORK AT OUR OFFICE. SHE'S FROM MICHIGAN AND RETURNING THERE-UNFORTUNATELY FOR US. I WISH SHE WAS STAYING

TOPSY TURVY CAKE ATTEMPT #1

SO, I'VE REALLY BEEN WANTING TO TRY ONE OF THOSE UNEVEN "TOPSY-TURVY" CAKES, SO I LOOKED UP HOW TO DO IT. THIS WAS MY FIRST ATTEMPT, JUST A SMALL ONE. THE FONDANT WAS REALLY HARD TO GET ON THE TOP LAYER W/OUT IT TEARING, AND IT DID TEAR QUITE A BIT, BUT I DIDN'T REDO IT, JUST FOR US AT HOME TONIGHT-NEW YEARS EVE. THAT'S WHY WE DID THE STAR THEME. FORTUNATELY THE STARS HID MOST OF THE ROUGH PARTS THAT DIDN'T TURN OUT GOOD, IT LOOKED PRETTY BAD BEFORE THAT. I LIKE IT FOR THE MOST PART THOUGH. KENZIE WANTED SOMETHING FOR THE TOP. I REALLY DIDN'T HAVE THE RIGHT KIND OF WIRE, BUT WE MADE SOMETHING ANYWAY, AND IT LOOKED OK, JUST FOR US AT HOME. I'VE BEEN EXPERIMENTING WITH MAKE MY OWN FONDANT W/ SOME SUCCESS. IT TASTES BETTER ANYWAY AND IT'S DEFINITELY CHEAPER. I'M GOING TO PRACTICE SOME MORE-WE HAVE SOME FAMILY BIRTHDAYS THIS MONTH.

DOGGIE CAKE

I MADE THIS CUTE LITTLE CAKE FOR MY SISTER-IN-LAW'S 29TH BIRTHDAY-SHE A DOG LOVER. SHE HAS TWO AMERICAN BULLDOGS-TANK AND ROXIE.
THE CAKES ARE ACTUALLY BROWNIES ICED W/ BUTTERCREAM, GRAHAM CRUMBS, AND MARSHMALLOW FONDANT I MADE MYSELF(TASTES MUCH BETTER THAN WILTON FONDANT-YUCK). IT'S PRETTY MUCH A SMORES THEME CAKE.

I THINK IT'S PRETTY CUTE.
